Wednesday night news…
- Captain Serious, Jonathan Toews, took to the ice this afternoon for the first time in about two weeks. This is good news. It means that he is one step closer to returning to the lineup. We should find out tomorrow if Toews will play in Phoenix – as well as Ben Eager.
- Fifth round draft pick on the 2009 draft, Marcus Kruger, was nominated for Rookie of the Year in the Swedish Elite League. He has tallied eighteen points in sixteen games, and leads his team, Djurgardens IF Stockholm, in goals (six) and in assists (twelve).
I don’t know how long the season is over there, but isn’t a little early to nominate players for any award? Anyway, Kruger could be a good find by the Blackhawks in the draft if he pans out.
…and Notes
- Jonathan Carlsson, who was reassigned to the Toledo Walleye yesterday, scored the first goal in today’s game in a 5-4 victory over the Kalamazoo Wings. It marks his first point since coming over to North America from Sweden.
